May 20, 2013

There will be NO breakfast served Wednesday morning due to the Senior Breakfast.

Today, the Theology Department is honoring Mrs. Miller who is retiring at the end of the school year.  We thank her for all her many years of love and service to us as our Campus Minister.  Please stop by the Campus Ministry office today.

St. Vincent de Paul needs 4 Marian students to help with their Legacy dinner on June 20th.  Any students who would be interested in helping please see Mrs. Dlugosz.

The Marian Choir will be performing at Quincy’s Café on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.  Come support your peers and hear them each sing a solo piece.  Quincy’s is located at 1725 N. Ironwood Ave., between Edison Rd. and SR 23.

Film Club will meet Tuesday, May 21st from 3:15 – 4:30 p.m.  We will be filming key scenes and it is imperative that all individuals acting in the film be there.

There will be a girls’ track meeting on Monday, May 20th at 3:30 p.m. on the track.  Please bring your uniform.

Football players leaving for Camp tomorrow need to be at Marian by 6:30 a.m. to catch the Activity Bus.

Attention Marian Student Body:  Marian’s Athletic Department is holding a T-Shirt Design contest for the 2013-2014 Athletic Spirit Shirt.  All designs must be submitted to the Athletic Department by first hour on May 23nd.  The shirt body must be in school colors (royal blue, white or silver/gray) and the Marian Shield must be included somewhere on the T-Shirt design.  Judging will be a combination of student voting on May 23rd during lunch periods, art teacher recommendations, and administration team vote.  The winner will be announced at the Fall Athletic Kick-off Smoker on August 10th.

Swim team members should stop by Ms. Miklius’ Room #241 to pick up your awards.

Congrats to the girls track team on a fantastic season.  Also big congrats to the regional qualifiers:  Maggie Hartnagel in the 4 X 800 and 800 meter, Shannon Hendricks in the 4 x 800 and the 800 meter, Megan Duvall in the 4 x 800 meter, Jenny Waltman in the 4 x 800 meter, Margaret Berta and Elizabeth Eversole in pole vault, Brittany Duszynski and Dinuka Cooray in long jump, and Taylor Pooley in the 300 meter  hurdles.

Reminder from the Dean:  uniform pants are to be dark in color,  khaki, or gray.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Marian High School is offering an additional opportunity to sell Media Guide Ads!  Please join us for a Phone-A-Thon on Monday, May 20th from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. in Rooms 137 & 138.  Help earn money for your team and satisfy your athletic fee requirement from sold ads, while enjoying an afternoon with friends and teammates.  You will be give a list of Companies to call, and you can also bring your own contacts such as your dentist, doctor, hair dresser, barber, neighbor, etc.  There will be a brief training session.  We will offer food, drinks and great prize incentives!  Please call Mrs. Mrs. Eichhorn by Friday, May 17th to sign up at 258-7676.  Please bring you cell phone!

Attention all first and second semester Intro 2-D, paining and drawing students:  Several art works still need to be claimed!!  All work will be sold or given away by this Friday if you do not claim it.  Please pick up your art work in the Senior Hall by this Friday!

Athletic Physicals are scheduled here at Marian High School for Wednesday, May 15th at 3:00 p.m. in the BCAC.  Please pick up an athletic physical form in the Athletic Office, so it can be completed by parents before the physical.

Attention members of Marian Right to Life:  Our last meeting of the year will be on Wednesday, May 15th, during homeroom in Room 219. The main agenda item will be the election of officers for next year. All are urged to attend. Candidates need to see Ms. Hinora or Mr. Dlugosz by 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday to review expectations. 

NHS tutoring is cancelled today, Monday May 13th.

Attention boys’ golf:  you will need to secure your own transportation to Eberhart today, there will not be bus transportation.

Attention Football Players:  NO A.M. linemen workouts this week.  Your last Dawn patrol is this Friday, May 17th at 6:30 a.m., you will be testing 40’s on the track and retesting other events.

All Juniors who are interested in playing football, your last leadership meeting is this Thursday morning, May 16th at 6:45 a.m. in BCAC Room 138 (bring your notebooks).

Anyone interested in Football there will be a short meeting to pick up your summer packets on May 23rd at 2:40 p.m. in BCAC classrooms 137 & 138, this meeting will only last about 10 minutes so be on time.

Overdue material notices were delivered during 10th hour. Please get your materials back to the LMC asap!  Friday will be the last day to check out books for this school year.

If you signed up and/or received a ticket to the After Prom and have decided not to attend, you need to return the ticket so we can take your name off the list of attendees - if not your parents will be called when you don't show up.

Louie's Tux Shop wanted us to announce that all the tuxes for Marian's Prom are in, and you can pick them up anytime now - you don't have to wait till Friday or Saturday.

Friday, May 10th will be the dedication of the second home for Hannah's House!  What an amazing moment in the history of Hannah's House! If you can help with the celebration, please see Mrs. Dlugosz.

Anyone interested in a Robotics Club next year please meet in Room 237 today after school.

Attention:  Any Sohomores interested in running for Junior Class office, please see Mr. Kirzeder in Room 229 for a nomination form.  All interested students must turn in their nomination forms by Friday, May 10th.

Candidates running for Freshman Class office, please see Mr. Tricker in Room 116 regarding the upcoming freshman class elections.

Reminder to all Junior football players, your next leadership meeting is this Thursday, May 9th at 2:45 p.m. in BCAC Room 137.

All students wanting to play football next year, our next Dawn Patrol is this Friday, May 10th at 6:30 a.m. in the BCAC.

Attention Film Club members:  See Mr. Dainty for a permission slip regarding Friday's events.

Invititations for our awards night have been mailed home to students being recognized for their academic success.  A list with students' names is also posted on Mrs. Dance's office window.

Vincentians, today is the absolute last call to turn in your service hour logs for the school year.  Please get them in to Mrs. Dlugosz who is recording all hours.  Thank You.

Film Club will meet after school tomorrow until 4:30 p.m.

Jostens representatives will be here on Friday, May 10th before school to deliver class rings.  Don't forget you will need cash or money order if you owe a balance, sorry no checks will be accepted.  For any student interested, we will take class ring orders that day, all you need is a $50.00 deposit.  Packets are available in the main office.

Members of Marian Right ot Life are reminded that our final First Friday Mass is tomorrow at 7:20 a.m. in our Chapel.  All members are encouraged to attend, as well as all students and staff.

Marian's Frosh In / Frosh Out Dance & Activity Night is this Friday from 8:00 - 10:30 p.m.  Please enter the BCAC from the North Parking Lot.  Cost is $3 at the door.

Reminder:  tomorrow is the last day to purchase Prom tickets.  They are being sold during first and second lunch hours.  Don't forget to pick up your After Prom tickets, admission to our After Prom is free, but you must have a ticket.  You do not have to attend Prom to attend the After Prom.

All NHS members are reminded to help out making sandwiches for the Center for the Homeless on Wednesday, May 1st!  The group will meet after school in the cafeteria.  The opportunity is worth service hours for any members who still need to meet requirements.  Also, all members are reminded to turn in their $10 dues to Michael Kokot or Mrs. Rutherford.  This payment is required to be a part of the organization.
