Science Department, Marian High School
"St Albert the Great reminds us that there is friendship between science and faith and that through their vocation to the study of nature, scientists can take an authentic and fascinating path of holiness."
---Pope Benedict XVI
Welcome to Biology at Marian High School with Mrs. Pairitz! From here you will find links to useful information, including calendars, rules, assignments, etc. These can change frequently so please look back often.
Teaching your student is a responsibility I take very seriously. Therefore, my mission is to enable students to reach their full academic potential through compassion, respect and understanding, while at the same time maintaining high expectations. As such, I will hold my students--and myself--accountable for meeting these expectations. I will also offer many point-of-use and hands-on experiences to help make learning more exciting and relevant, and allow my students to explore a range of real-life situations and encourage and nurture the application of critical thinking skills to arrive at meaningful solutions as they study the natural world around them. Along with lessons in biology, I will also teach students to become active, independent learners, who are self-reliant and self-disciplined individuals.
A little bit about myself...I have taught at Marian for 20 years and am part of a large Marian family--we are on our second generation! Previously, I attended St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, where I earned degrees in biology, mathematics and education. My husband (MHS '85) and I have been married 23 years and have three daughters: Tes (MHS '14), Sophie (MHS '24) and Anna (MHS '28).
