Dr. Sisk has been a member of the Science Department a Marian High School for 9 years. Before that he had a financial planning business for 16 years.
Dr. Sisk graduated for Indiana University in South Bend in 1973 with a BA in Chemistry and from The George Washington University in 1983 with a Ph.D. in Psychology. He then completed an Alexander von Humbodt Post-doctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Bonn Medical Center in Bonn, Germany in 1985.
Dr. Sisk has been involved in research while at Marian through particiption in the RET Program at the University of Notre Dame. During the summer of 2009, he worked in the Electrical Engineering Department at Notre Dame. Research involved studying the crystalline structure of aluminum oxide in diodes to correlate structure with electrical conductance. Dr. Sisk was joined in this research project by Mark Imus (12), who continued this project as part of his Advanced Research course.
This past summer, Dr. Sisk attended two workshops; one at I.U. Bloomington, which involved training teachers to use I.U.'s computer assisted learning program and a second at the University of Notre Dame, which focused on training science teachers to utilize a student-centered, guided-inquiry method called "Modeling" for science instruction. The latter training session was supported by the Department of Education and participants received $2000 grants for their science classrooms. Dr. Sisk used his grant to purchase new LoggerPro probeware for the 12 computer stations used for labs in Honors and ACP Chemistry classes.
