

Principal's Bio
Bishop John M. D'Arcy named Carl Loesch as principal of Marian High School effective July 26, 2004. Mr. Loesch replaced Joe Brettnacher who is the new principal of a Catholic school in Lafayette.
Prior to being principal of Marian, Mr. Loesch served as director of Appalachia Seminar and Educational Immersions at the University of Notre Dame. He was also the activity director for the National Youth Sports Program at Notre Dame.
Mr. Loesch's career experience has been in the field of education except for one year spent in financial planning, investment, and insurance sales. He has served as chairperson of the Religion Department, service coordinator, and head wrestling coach at Bishop Dwenger High School in Fort Wayne. For the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, Mr. Loesch also served on the council of Teachers, as an adult education presenter, youth conference presenter, and Eucharistic Congress speaker.
In Chicago Heights, Illinois, Mr. Loesch graduated from Marian Catholic High School and earned bachelor of arts and masters of arts degrees in theology with a concentration in biblical studies at the University of Notre Dame. He also studied at Tantur Ecumenical Institute in Israel.
Among several awards, he has received Bishop Dwenger and Walmart Teacher of the Year, the University of Notre Dame Exemplar Award for Service, the Jefferson Service Award for Northeast Indiana, "Realizing the Dream" from the Independent Colleges of Indiana and the Founder's Award from Habitat for Humanity for having the outstanding campus chapter in the United States for high schools and colleges under 8,000 students.
Mr. Loesch and his wife, Marie, are the parents of four young children and make their home in South Bend. They are members of St. Matthew Cathedral Parish in South Bend.
