The Killilea Memorial Scholarship was established in 2000, upon the passing of Diane Killilea, to honor her life and the values which were important to her. Upon the recent passing of their father, Bill, the family updated the scholarship to include both of their parents and their shared values of importance. Each year this scholarship will support students at Marian High School who reflect these values. The following thoughts provided by one of their children help us understand the spirit in which this scholarship is given.

"My parents, Bill and Diane Killilea, were two, normal, everyday, hard-working, God-fearing individuals. Together, they made an awesome team! They worked hard to support one another, but also to support a family and many others in their communities. They raised a family of seven children and taught us the importance of discipline, education, service, and most importantly love. They worked daily to teach each one of us how to learn and why service to others was not only expected, but it was what God showed us and wanted for us.

My parents instilled in each of my siblings the will to achieve and to strive for more. We observed this determination in our parents by their examples in the many activities/organizations for which they volunteered. Each and everything they did, they did with love and commitment. They did it for someone other than themselves. My parents were very proud of their family. They were especially proud of the fact that all seven children went through Catholic schools and graduated from Marian High School. This was very important to them. They believed very strongly in a Catholic education and felt very blessed that they were able to provide this for us. This education, and the lessons instilled by our parents, live in all of us and subsequently our children. We are raising our children to be good and faith filled servants, as we were taught. My parents were special people because they impacted a great many lives by leading seemingly normal lives. In my view, that is what we are all called to do."

The Bill and Diane Killilea Memorial Scholarship is a $2,000 award given for a student's junior year at Marian High School. It is renewable for senior year if the student still meets the FACTS requirements and is in good standing.

Eligibility: Must be a current sophomore at Marian High School with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and be eligible through FACTS Grant & Aid.

Application and required attachments are due March 24.
